Vahl is an old "Rathsherr" family from the Hansa town Greifswald, starting probably with Johann Vale who was a "Rathsherr" there in 1255. The unbroken genealogical tree begining 1565 with the trader Peter Vahl in Greifswald. From this family comes the brothers Gottfried and Peter Vahl, traders in Greifswald and owners of the "lehn" estate Grellenberg by Grimmen, 1794 november 19. they got a nobel title. (more below).
The family name have many wriying variations: Vale, Vahl, Fahl, Faal, Wahle, Wale .....
